GIRLS’ RUGBY: DECEMBER 1
It proved a memorable weekend for the Enfield Tigers with four of its players, Emily Mann, Rene Sonubi, Eliza Sibley and Emeka Dawkins, donning the blue and white of the Middlesex U18s team with pride in two county games played at Grasshoppers in west London.
Both games were lost although Emeka Dawkins did succeed in crossing the whitewash in the 24-5 loss to Eastern Counties.
However, the Middlesex – Essex clash, which the Enfield Tigers’ head coach, Tom Mann, described as a ‘cracker’, proved a much tighter affair, with Middlesex eventually going down all guns blazing 10-5.
Another Enfield Tigers player, Selma Tivnann, had also been due to play only to be ruled out through injury, but Issy Kennedy (Old Grammarians), part of the Enfield Tigers-OGs cluster, did get game time.
Tom Mann said: “It was a great afternoon for the girls who gave it their all and played with the grit, determination and intensity which we have come to expect from them [at club level].”
The Enfield Tigers U18s, shorn of their county contingent, clustered with Watford, but suffered a comprehensive reverse (final score not known) to a mixed opposition team which included Stockwood Park and Harpenden amongst others.
Well done girls!
