EIRFC PLAYER AWARDS
FRANK ANTWI, a combative presence in the Enfield Ignatians’ engine room, was deservedly crowned Players’ Player of the Year after putting in a number of sterling efforts during the club’s 2023-24 Counties One Herts-Middlesex campaign, writes Jonathan Landi.
Variously deployed as a lock-forward and number eight, the Ignatians’ stalwart proved his worth after his trademark hard carries invariably put his side on the front foot in what proved a difficult campaign.
Antwi (pictured) takes over the baton from vice-captain, Euan Renny, who had won this particular award for the last two years.
The latter said: “Frank had a very good season and was a very good player to have on your side.”
Other award winners were Tom MacDougall (Coaches’ Player of the Year), Sam Hatchett (most improved player), Jake Baker (Lucas Yoxall Memorial award), Paul Duke and Teddy Taylor (clubman of the Year).
One footnote to a memorable occasion was the welcome presence of Mark Yoxall, who presented the award which upholds the memory of his son Lucas.
