THE U16S CONTINUE TO MAKE A STATEMENT

The U16s continued their positive start to the season after claiming their second league win in as many games after mastering the away challenge of Old Verulamians 30-5 in the wet and wind of Hertfordshire.

Adding their win in the league opener against Barnet Elizabethans B, the visitors claimed maximum points by virtue of crossing the line four times with Oscar, Man of the Match James and Cinar laying the initial foundations.

The proverbial icing on the cake proved to be the fourth and final try, scored very late in the day, and signed off by Ira, as the visitors wrapped up all five points.

Honourable mentions, too, must go the kicker, Ben, as he fired over two conversions and two penalties, and Cassius who had a very effective game.

Head coach Andy Corgan summed up: “The team by and large executed the game plan which consisted of keeping it simple, driving it up the middle, not playing fancy rugby [in the conditions], and making use of the boot.

“There will be no rugby games this coming weekend because of half term and our next league game will be against Dunstablians on November 17.”
