Coach John made a point of telling the boys that is reward for a solid pre season. Rugby is a game where contesting possession is paramount to moving forwards and crossing the line. The clean sheet is far more important than the amount of scores run in.
The Enfield Blues posed a threat all over the field, running lines off of both the scrum half and the fly half, which then opened up the space out wide to exploit. And exploit it they did running in 9 tries!
Man of the match was given to John, playing at prop, for his devastating ball carrying. He punched holes in the Eton Manor line all morning, creating space for team mates to run in to.
Games can often be won by small margins, although not today, and goal kicking can be the difference between winning and losing. Fly half Caiden was outstanding with the boot this morning, converting 5 of the first 6 tries, (including one from out on the touch line!) before he was replaced.
Whilst the boys were keen to get the season going, they had extra motivation today in seeing Coach Leighton on the side line, and we as a club all wish him well in his recovery.
